I am training hard to get ready for this upcoming event, however my hard work is nothing compared to the life long struggle these kids go thru.

The challenge for me is race an Ironman in Zurich 12 July 2009 and then two weeks later 27 July 09 as a novel event I am doing another Ironman in my local gym. I will race three of the personal trainers and they will do one leg each and we will then see how the total times stack up.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that is not caused by diet or lifestyle. Around 140,000 Australian children and adults live with this incurable, chronic disease and five more are diagnosed every day. An individual with type 1 diabetes needs up to six insulin injections every day, just to stay alive, as well as multiple finger prick blood sugar tests. While insulin keeps people alive, it is not a cure. Having diabetes can still cause serious health complications such as blindness, heart disease and kidney failure.
